Hair Removal Tips for MTF transgender patients.

Hair removal is a substantial concern for many transgender women. For most, HRT will decrease new hair growth, but it isn’t always enough to dramatically reduce the presence of body and chest hair. If you’re considering male-to-female chest surgery, it’s probably a good time to also consider medical laser hair removal offered at Hairaway Canada.
When it comes to hair removal, there is only really one option. Electrolysis and Medical Laser Hair Removal are popular methods of hair removal in the transgender community:
  • Electrolysis
  • Laser Hair Removal

Electrolysis

Electrolysis is a permanent hair removal method. Today’s medical electrolysis destroys the growth center of unwanted hair using electric current. A very fine probe (a stainless steel wire about half the thickness of a strand of hair) is inserted through the surface of the skin at each unwanted hair follicle. The hair is then carefully removed with tweezers.
The biggest advantage of electrolysis is that it offers permanent results. However, one of the biggest disadvantages is that it’s a time-consuming (and expensive) process. Multiple sessions will be necessary to remove all of your unwanted chest hair, there is a risk of pitting but most importantly it is an INVASIVE procedure. Given hair removal is an unregulated industry in Ontario, the risk associated with undergoing an invasive procedure in an unregulated environment is to great to simply ignore.
Some side effects associated with electrolysis may include:
  • Discomfort or pain
  • Skin redness
  • Localized swelling
  • Tiny blisters
  • Scabs
  • Dryness
  • Ingrown hairs
  • Pitting
Because of the above but in particular because it is unregulated, Hairway Canada cannot recommend it to its patients.

Medical Laser Hair Removal at Hairway Canada.

Medical Laser hair removal uses concentrated beams of light to target and destroy unwanted hair follicles. During a laser hair removal session, a practitioner will use a handheld device to deliver laser energy to the surface of your skin. The light will pass through the surface of your skin and be absorbed by the pigment of your hair follicles.
Many patients choose medical laser hair removal  at Hairway Canada because it offers long lasting (and in most cases permanent) results. However, it’s important to note that multiple sessions will be needed to achieve desired results. Additionally, medical laser hair removal isn’t always ideal for everyone. The best candidates have lighter skin and darker hair. Hairway Canada will always assess your clinical suitability at the time of your consultation.
  • Discomfort or pain
  • Localized swelling
  • Skin redness
  • Hyper pigmentation (temporary skin darkening)
  • Scab formation
It is essential to seek out a qualified professional for medical laser hair removal to reduce your risk of undesirable side effects. Hairaway Canada has over 15 years experience in Medical Laser Hair Removal and has performed over 65,000 procedures. As they say....Practice has made perfect.

Food for thought from Hairaway Canada

You were born in a first class hospital, I was delivered at home, we both survived.
You went to a private primary school and I went to a public school, we both ended in the same high school.
You woke up from the bed and I woke from the floor, we both had a peaceful night rest.
Your outfits are all expensive, mine are all simple and cheap, we both still cover our nakedness.
You ate fried rice and roasted chicken, I ate local made food but we both still ate to our satisfaction.
You ride on Lexus jeep, Range Rover, G Wagon, Hummer Jeep and I use public transport but we still got to our various destination.
You may be reading this post from your Sony xperia, BB Z10, Q10, Samsung Galaxy 6edge, IPhone6+ and I typed it with my Touch one broken screen, we still see the message.
Lifestyle is not a competition and there are different ways to get a lot of things done, different lanes all leading to the same destination. Just because your neighbour is doing things faster does not mean you are failing.
Happiness doesn't come from having everything, but making the best out of what you have, it's all about how you see yourself.
Happiness is not having what you like. Happiness is liking what you have and being content.

Wishing you all a wonderful day, week and year ahead.

INGROWN HAIRS. WHAT ARE THEY AND IS THERE IS SOLUTION?

Strange bumps have sprung up on your face. They're not exactly pimples. They're not hives, either. Could they be ingrown hairs?
Ingrown hairs are hairs that have curled around and grown back into your skin instead of rising up from it.
Sometimes, dead skin can clog up a hair follicle. That forces the hair inside it to grow sideways under the skin, rather than upward and outward. Sometimes, cutting naturally curly hair too closely will result in the sharpened end of the hair piercing the skin, causing an ingrown hair.
Ingrown hairs aren't serious. But they can be irritating and embarrassing.

Hairaway Canada offers an effective solution for this problem encountered by both women ( most often in their bikini areas) and men ( often on their faces).

All of these except number 2 are true.

Actually, we have performed more than 65,000 treatments over 15 years.

Practice makes perfect we say.
What is a Linea Nigra?
The linea nigra is that vertical line on your belly, a pregnancy trademark that shows up on moms-to-be of all stripes.
Hairy belly in pregnancy?
It's a common body change - and will usually disappear. HairAway Canada explains why it happens and mums share their stories:
Your body has a great deal to cope with during pregnancy so naturally there are some changes that may take you by surprise - including a hairy belly or the appearance of a dark vertical line on your stomach. But there is no need to be alarmed.
Mum-of-two and women's health expert, Dr Catherine Hood (who's also an advisor for Dentinox) answers your hairy belly and linea nigra questions:
Why do some women get a hairy belly when they are pregnant?
In short, this changes in the body is due to hormones. Hairs on our body are usually in one of two phases; either growing and then falling out, or resting. At any time about 90% of our hair is growing and only 10% resting. During pregnancy, however, increased hormone levels push more hairs into the resting phase. This means fewer hairs are falling out and so you appear to have thicker hair. This excess hair is usually welcome on a woman's head but it can be more alarming when there appears to be an increase in the hairs on the body too.
You may also see a dark line appear on your bump, which is called the linea nigra. This is caused by a hormone produced by your growing placentam, which stimulates melanocytes in the skin to produce extra pigment. This darkens the nipples and can result in the line appearing in the midline down the pregnant abdomen.
Can you remove/bleach the hair? If so, what is the safest way?
After pregnancy the excess body hair will tend to all fall out, usually within six months. Waiting for this to happen is probably the easiest option but if you're very distressed at the appearance of body hair then you can have it removed. Waxing, shaving and plucking hairs is all safe in pregnancy (if painful). You can bleach the hairs but because this involves using chemicals then you may wish to avoid this option whilst pregnant. It's also safe to use medical laser removal techniques such as those provided by ‪#‎HairawayCanada‬. This is a way to permanently remove excess hairs.
Real mums say
Well you've heard the expert advice but our Babyexpert forums have been abuzz with hairy belly and dark line tales. Here are some of our readers top tips:
"I pluck out the big ones (mine are thick and dark!), but leave the fuzzy ones! I figure the midwife has definitely seen worse things!" Br2B
"Don't belive the myth a hairy belly means it's a boy. Most pregnant women get hairy bellys so it doesn't depend on whether it's a boy or girl. I had one boy and got hairy belly and now I'm pregnant with a boy again and got hairy belly" Leanne859
"Hairy belly too! My hair is quite fair so was a little shocked to see darker hair growing on my bump. Convinced it's a sign I'm having a boy!!" pumbacat
